Moving the Boat: PLU Women's Rowing

We are the Pacific Lutheran University Women's Rowing team, and we have a long and storied past that includes Olympians, Olympic Medals, All-Americans, a trip to the NCAA Championships in 2002 and countless other accomplishments. We are in the process of rebranding our team’s standards, attitude, and competitiveness. As women's rowing has exploded in the last few years, so has the performance standards and expectations.
As our team strives to excel to the next level, so should our equipment. One of the most essential components of our equipment is a technologically advanced set of oars. Right now, we are looking to raise $5,000 to buy a new set of Concept2 “Skinny Sweep” blades, which are designed to maximize the effort being put into the water. The shaft of the oar bends slightly through the stroke, so that at the end of the stroke, the oar goes back to its original shape, giving the boat a bit of an extra acceleration forward. If we are fortunate enough to raise more than our goal; this money will go to other equipment related needs of the program (with the priority being a second set of new oars!).
PLU Rowing has been in existence for 52 years, and through the decades the program has maintained a proud contagious tradition of excellence. We hope that this excellence, combined with our new intensity and vision, will allow us to blend our proud history with our new high standards of competitiveness; not only to return to the NCAA Championships, but to become a fixture of success at the national level year in and year out.

I don't think any of us can really comprehend how this campaign has gone so far. We are so blessed and amazed at the level of support we have felt over the last 5 days. Getting us to 80% in such a short amount of time is an inspiring accomplishment as we head into the weekend and our team's Conference Championship has been an enormous boost of support! Wow! We are at the end of Day 2 and we have already raised 38% of our target goal! We are ecstatic to have raised this much in the first two days.

Wow! We are REALLY excited to be VERY close to launching our campaign! We took that excitement to the racecourse yesterday and SWEPT all of our races yesterday in the first ever NW Conference specific duels at the Logger Invite!
